CS360 WEEK-11 PRIMETIME PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Florida State jr. defender Tiana Brockway

Tiana Brockway A 240

Florida State junior center back Tiana Brockway (Tacoma, Wash.) – who led the Seminoles defense to a pair of road shutout wins (2-0 at Va. Tech; 1-0 in 2 OT at UNC), in addition to initiating the goal sequence vs. the Tar Heels – headlines the latest edition of the CS360 Primetime Performers of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected by CollegeSoccer360.com for games during the week of Oct. 24-30, 2011 (12 honorees listed below).  Brockway (pictured, at right), the week-11 CS360 Primetime Player of the Week, helped FSU secure a spot in the ACC Tournament with their 2-0 win at Virginia Tech (cs360 #21), followed by a 1-0, double-OT victory at North Carolina (cs360 #6) in the ACC quarterfinal round.

Brockway – alongside fellow center back Toni Pressley, right back Ines Jaurena and left back Kassey Kallman – led a defensive effort that allowed only three shots-on-goal (all by UNC) during the high-pressure week, spanning 205 minutes of play. The win at Virginia Tech saw the Seminoles limit the Hokies to three total shots (none on target) and a pair of corner kicks.

The win over North Carolina was the first in Chapel Hill during the Florida State program's history and handed UNC its first loss ever in ACC Tournament play (ending a 63-game unbeaten streak; PK games count as ties). Such a penalty-kick shootout was looming when Brockway delivered a corner kick from the leftside flag, with the service carrying to the far-right corner. Ellsa Stephan's ensuing header was tipped off the crossbar by 'keeper Anna Sieloff and Jessica Prime one-timed the rebound for a dramatic winning goal, with five only 5:09 left in overtime (105').

Player info. on all 12 week-11 Primetime Performer honorees is in the process of being added below (action photos now are included at bottom of page, with headshots located in right-sidebar). Brockway was one of numerous players who led key defensive efforts during the past week, with the 12 honorees including seven defenders, a defensive midfielder and four forwards ... five seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and one freshmen (five of the honorees hail from California hometowns, plus two each from Colorado and Texas, and one each from New Jersey, North Carolina and Washington).

... Selection for the Division I women's CS360 weekly awards is based on any/all of the following "primetime" criteria (i.e. not solely based on raw stats):

• Must have been playing in a game involving a top-50 team from the CS360 Composite National Rankings (or in a game involving a conference favorite/leader), or performed at a high level in a game that is key to the team's postseason qualification/participation.

• In general, preference is given based on the quality of the opponent, contribution to team success and situational factors involved in the player's accomplishments.

• Exhibited strong leadership and/or involved in clutch performances, such as gamewinning goals, noteworthy comebacks, late scores, momentum-shifting play, all-around performance, team spirit, etc.

• Overcame adversity or extreme circumstances (for the team and/or individual).

• Bonus consideration is given for key performances away from team's home field and/or against a traditional rival.
